I have just found these cheats for running faster with the flag when playing Capture The Flag on Halo 3, see here for the clever Halo 3 Flag Tactics to which I refer. These tips are quite helpful considering you cannot flag toss like you can in Halo 2.
You should know that your spartan runs faster without the flag than with it and you should time your pick-ups and drops to be precisely right. If you do this, you can run up to 50% faster, this can mean the difference between a win and a loss in a close game.
If you choose to use this tactic and increase your running speed and flag capping in matchmaking, you should be warned that it comes at a price. The price is that you forfeit your ability to have the other team not know the location of the flag, an indicator shows up when you drop it in matchmaking.
Like most other Halo cheats and tactics, think carefully before using these Halo 3 flag tactics because they have drawbacks as well as benefits! However, I think in this case the benefits definitely outweigh the drawbacks.

i think that tactic of urz kinda stupid… sure u can run faster but to get caught while doing it is not worth it… my tactic is to grab the flag when no one is around and go the long way around the map… sure it takes longer but it is harder to get caught… heh heh heh =P
