In an interview with Newsweek, Bungie writing director Joseph Staten reveals that Master Chief will be relegated to a supporting role in the Halo movie as it would be very difficult to have a lead character whose face is always hidden by a helmet and who only has one liners for dialogue. Instead Master Chief is to be a source of intrigue, an anonymous problem solver who assists and talks to the lead characters as they carry the movie.
