Gears of War 2 Will Be XBOX Blockbuster

Gears of War 2 will be released on November 7, 2008 for the XBOX 360. It promises to be one of the most popular and most talked about video games of the holiday season. This combat action shooter has been one of the most anticipated games ever since the release of the first Gears of War. The controls of this game are some of the best in any shooter game which is fantastic as the action is very frenetic at time.

For those who have not been a fan so far of the Gears of War franchise, it is a third person   by Epic Games for Microsoft Studios. The game can only be played on an XBOX 360 as it is an exclusive title to Microsoft. The first Gears of War was also released for the Windows operating system. The guts of the game relies on a modified Unreal 3 engine to power the action and graphics.

The game play revolves around COG Delta squad lead by Marcus Felix. Their goal is simply to stop the Locust Horde from destrying humanity and taking over the world. Gears of War 2 will continue with that storyline and also keep the wide array of weapons that are used by you and your squad to kill the Locust Horde. Most player’s favorite weapon has been the machine, which is attached to a machine gun for both sawing your opponent and also shooting them. A really cool new feature of Gears of War 2 is being able to use a downed opponent as a shield to keep yourself from getting shot as you continue to fire. Those that have seen previews of the game have enjoyed this new tactic available to the player. Destroying your opponent has never been more exciting.

Multi-player promises to be where Gears of War really shines. This will keep the game being played well into 2009 as there are numerous map packs, 15 at last count, that you will be able to do combat in. There are numerous games within the multi-player option that will keep players occupied. Reports indicate that at least three new on-line multi-player modes, called “Guardian,” “Wingman,” and “Submission” will be available. Co-op play is also included.

Gears of War 2 will be a very special game. The violence and action level has been raised. If you liked the first Gears, then you will like the second, as the gameplay has improved across the board. No other game is more anticipated for the XBOX 360 than Gears of War 2 during this holiday season. For those that enjoy Gears of War action figures or Gears of War toys, new versions of those will also be released during the launch.
